External Communications Officer

SGN is actively seeking a skilled External Communications Officer for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role involves leading and supporting external communication initiatives to protect and enhance the company's reputation within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will manage daily press office inquiries, serve as the primary media contact during incidents and crises (including participation in an out-of-hours rota), and proactively highlight company achievements to foster positive public relations. Responsibilities also include developing and delivering compelling content for social media and communications campaigns, particularly in support of national gas mains upgrade programs and emergency operations. This role will cover Southern England and Scotland, requiring regular access to either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office.
